Starting March 9, 2012, Fort Knox Recordings, the renegade funk n’ soul label from Washington DC, will embark on their “Rhythm & FX” tour featuring Fort Knox Five, Thunderball, and All Good Funk Alliance. The tour will kick off in Jackson Hole, WY and span through Montana, Colorado, and Northern California. The tour will be celebrating All Good Funk Alliance’s new EP entitled Rhythm & FX, out on March 6th through Beatport. This is a tour not to be missed.
Fort Knox Five is a leading force in the international funk and breaks scene. Having released an arsenal of floor rocking singles and remixes, the Fort Knox Five has the midas touch for producing heavy hitting records. They established Fort Knox Recordings in 2003 to release party-rocking music that crosses tempos and defies genres. Their world renowned ‘Fort Knox Sound’ has overtaken dance-floors with its distinct interweaving of live instrumentation with funky electronic breakbeats.
Fort Knox Five will be DJing versus “The Ambassadors of Style” known as Thunderball with a 4-turntable set. Thunderball has recently released their fourth full-length recording, 12 Mile High, on Thievery Corporation’s ESL Music. This Washington, DC-based trio are globally renowned purveyors of sophisticated, stereophonic-thrillers, and cinematic dub. Since 1997 their productions have shifted effortlessly between the genres of drum’n’bass, dub and downtempo, building a strong following for their signature sound. 12 Mile High marks the return of the Thunderball trio from their duties with the venerable breakbeat production group Fort Knox Five.
The All Good Funk Alliance are no strangers to Fort Knox Recordings. The two musical geniuses behind AGFA are some of our closest compatriots. They have been releasing music and remixing with us since the beginning. Their expertise in all aspects of musical production have helped them create a signature sound that always relies on expert drum and percussion programming, space aged synth sounds, and big bouncy bass lines. Frank Cueto and Rusty Belicek are the masterminds behind the Alliance and they have built a solid reputation for creating a definitive catalog of tracks that are always funky, fun and fresh. The tour will be celebrating the duo’s latest EP called ‘Rhythm & FX’ featuring a handful of new funk weapons for DJs to drop on dancefloors worldwide. This EP will fit into any DJ’s crate that like to explore the multi-genres of funk breaks and Nu Disco. This is the debut EP laying the groundwork leading up to the release of the brand new AGFA full length album, Jacks of All Trades, coming out this May on Fort Knox Recordings.
