This year’s lineup has been handpicked to create an exciting, multisensory extravaganza. Headlining three stages full of genremelding artists will be Nahko and Medicine for the People, Rising Appalachia, Humans, David Starfire, as well as North Island favourites Five Alarm Funk and Nickodemus.
The creative directors are also ecstatic to bring back last year’s favourites, The Librarian, Erica Dee and adham shaikh. Fort Knox Five, Plantrae, Kaminanda, Michael Fraser, Mat the Alien and Nattali Rize & Notis (Blue King Brown front woman’s new project) round up this wonderfully diverse collection – a reflection of our commitment to nurturing local talent alongside the presentation of world-class acts.
Hallmarks of the first gathering – multiple stages, yoga and an inclusive, family-friendly environment – will return for the second installment. Enjoy inspiring sounds from across the musical spectrum, artistic wonders, contemporary dance performances and stimulating workshops. Drift from the creative Cumberland Forest Stage to the assortment of offerings at the Atmosphere Stage, to the carnivalesque Big Top, weaving among a fascinating array of vendors along the way.
Nestled in the quaint mountain town of Cumberland, a growing village of independent entrepreneurs, herbalists, mountain bikers, young families… and good ol’ boys, the community is a huge part of the festival, providing a wonderful backdrop to Atmosphere Gathering’s collection of live and electronic elements. Festival-goers can take a stroll down historic Dunsmuir Avenue, grab a brew at one of three unique watering holes (including a brewery), enjoy a coffee or peruse eclectic wares from a variety of shops. Camping is available both onsite and at Cumberland Lake Park, which is just a short drive away from the festival site and features a beautiful lake. Attendees are encouraged to take a refreshing dip at any time during the three-day gathering. To put it simply, Cumberland is a wonderful place to dance and celebrate.
